And the Winner Is.....

Posted by jachacosmetics

I am very excited to announce that the votes are in and we are ready to present to you the winner of the contest.   The response has been overwhelming with over 300 votes!  I know that the women who did not win will be disappointed, but stop and think for a second what you have actually overcome by this contest.  You announced to the social networking world that you were feeling down about yourself and needed a confidence boost, maybe because a guy screwed you over or because you lost a lot of weight and still don't feel beautiful.  Well I think the fact that you announced your insecurities to the world is a big step, and all of the entries are soo beautiful that I hope you now take this a step further and find your inner beauty and strength to be the best women you can be.  Unfortunately, and I know this as well as the rest of you women, being told your beautiful everyday, does absolutely nothing unless you feel it yourself.  So if it takes a boudoir session, or a makeup lesson, or even a new pair of jeans, get out there and treat yourself, finding self confidence and feeling beautiful is worth the efforts and can bring so much deserved happiness to your life.  Well I wont hold off anymore in telling you the winner....

CHARLOTTE IS OUR WINNER!!!!! I couldn't even vote for her, which was hard, but am more then happy she won! I have seen her through her ups and downs with this boy who has made her feel less then the beautiful women she is and I am sooo excited to be a part of building her confidence back up.  I am happy that she is moving on to find someone that will appreciate all that she has to offer in this world, and that will not take away from her, but will make her even more happy and push her to see how amazing she is.  I am excited to have my friend back, and for her to get her confidence back, and be that women that I have always admired and adored.   Congrats! I hope that all the support of your friends and family and the comments people made about you , is the first step in seeing how truly amazing you are. For all that you give to others, its your turn to do something for yourself.

SECOND PLACE WINNER!!

CHRISTINE is our second place winner.  I have never met Christine but for some reason throughout this contest I now feel like I know her.  Her family and friends left comments along the way expressing how amazing she is, and even her grandma voted!!! We had no intentions of having a second place prize but seeing that Charlotte and Christine, where just 7 votes apart, Margie and I knew we had to give Christine something.  I am so excited to give Christine a makeup lesson and help her to see how beautiful she is on the outside.  Margie@freshimages.ca is also giving Christine her very own boudoir photo shoot, so that she can take a day off work and relax and feel beautiful.  I can see by your entry Christine and all your support over the last few weeks, you truly are an amazing women, and even though you are already beautiful I am excited to help you see all your potential.  I think maybe you should still adopt all the cats, but just find a great man too, as I am an animal lover and I don't know if I want to be held responsible for all the cats that won't get to live wonderful lives with you :)

THIRD PLACE WINNER!!!

Congrats Deb!! Deb is the mother of one of my friends...who will not be named.  Deb is a wonderful women, who sometimes does not make the best decisions in life.  I think maybe this again is where confidence comes into play.  We all dream of finding that perfect man, but sometimes when we don't find the perfect one right away, we see it as a flaw in ourselves and end up settling for second best.  I truly think that Deb is a beautiful women, and for her 50 th birthday I want her to feel absolutely beautiful and find herself someone who will treat her well and give her all the things she deserves in life.  If Deb doesnt find the perfect man, I also hope she finds the confidence needed to be independent and comfortable with herself, and not to settle for someone who sees her as anything but amazing.  Deb helps others everyday at the hospital and has put so much work into building a new career in her late 40's! I am going to give Deb as a third place winner, a makeup lesson of her own.  I will teach Deb that 5 mins in the morning will make her feel sexy in her scrubs all day, and and extra ten going out, will make her feel stunning! Makeup doesn't need to take forever, but I think its important for us to take at least 5 mins for ourselves in the morning just to feel good.  You can reach me at jachaminerals@gmail.com to book your makeup lesson Deb :)

OUR OTHER BEAUTIFUL SEMI FINALISTS :)

My supermodels :)

Posted by jachacosmetics

I know I say this over and over, but the best part of my job, and why I chose this profession is to make women truly feel beautiful.  In saying that I don't think that makeup is needed to make someone beautiful, but I think it helps bring out confidence in women that might not have been there before.  When you do someones makeup in a different way, or show them how to do it properly, a women's whole personality and persona changes.  The feeling of making someone feel great about themselves is why I became a makeup artist.

Along with being a makeup artist I am passionate about working with people who have a disability, and I think it is important for them to feel beautiful with who they are.  Recently I decided to get pictures of the girls taken, and so I did their hair and makeup.  When they looked in the mirror after, they smiled from ear to ear and  their faces actually lit up.  It was a touching moment. Its not very often when my two professions collide, but even just by putting a little gloss on them, or throwing on a bit of foundation you could just see how beautiful they felt. They grew up in a world where they don't always get told how beautiful and amazing they are, and so I think it is very important for them to remind themselves and get a chance to feel gorgeous!  So here are some pictures of a different kind of photo shoot, but once again my models are stunning, with smiles that can't help but to make you smile.

When it comes to planning my photo shoots, I first and foremost call Margie at fresh images, and tell her it is that time again when I am getting my seasonal colours ready to go.  Together we collaborate ideas, I usually put out where I want the photo shoots to happen, and she usually gets really excited and says that I read her mind!   Although, Margie did a fabulous job on our first photo shoot together, she nailed this shoot, and I could see that she was even more confident with photographing in a way that she isn't necessarily used to doing.  She took an old truck, told our beautiful model to go poise on it, and with the help of the wind perfectly blowing her hair, she got a breath taking photo.  My moms words said it best " well clearly you have the eye we don't, because we see a pile of wood covered in nails, and you see a great photo location!" Margie also brought out some crazy lens she had never worked with before, googled it a bit, and then was taking pictures with it like she had been using it for years.

When it came to choosing models, we were both in agreement we wanted a red head!  Margie's best friend is a red head, so we obviously just thought we would use her for the shoot.  When she wasn't available that day, and neither of us new any other read heads, we were on the hunt.  Luckily I decided to creep on facebook later that day, and stopped to look at a some recent wedding pictures a friend had posted.  One of her first pictures had a beautiful red head named Cassidy in them...so I emailed her and told her I had to have Cassidy in my photo shoot! To my relief she was flattered and wasn't weirded out and we got the red head we were looking for! The other two models I choose were Jessica a friend from college, and Dawn-Marie a family friend who I have known for years! All the girls where a little nervous at first, but seemed to get into character real quick! Dawn Marie had great little comments for every look, and was constantly encouraging and complimenting the other girls.

Margie's relaxed approach to photography made it seem like she was just capturing moments of  a group of friends hanging out, and not total strangers. My favorite part of having every day girls go through this experience is to see their reaction when they look at the photos. We spend our entire lives comparing ourselves to the girls in magazines, and wishing we could look like them, and for these girls that became a reality.  I always hear from the models about how much they enjoyed their experience and how greatful they are for being a part of it.  The feedback and comments on pictures makes me soo happy and is exactly why I love having everyday beauties be a part of my photo shoot.  Judging by the amount of private messages I have got from friends wanting to be the next jacha minerals model, it might be a tough decision next time! Keep up the comments ladies, make our models feel beautiful as they are absolutely stunning!!

For all you ladies that have wrote to me about wanting to get your own pictures, well don't forget to check out our contest and sign up for your chance to win a photo shoot of your own! Here are some more sneak peaks at the pictures from the shoot, and a glance at all my beautiful past models!!! Thank you all, you are all supermodels in my eyes!

Fashion Meets Country- Behind the Scenes

Posted by jachacosmetics

The best thing about having your own makeup line is you get to plan amazing photo shoots! Falls photo shoot, had the theme "fashion meets country".  I thought it would be kind of cool to incorporate fashion, and makeup and beauty, but go back to my roots and blend my two lives together.  The results of this, I must say, are amazing!! I wanted my models to also reflect this theme so I picked some good old farm girls, and they did a fabulous job! They are all stunning and we had a great time! I really had a vision with this photo shoot, and put a lot of time into finding the right hair and clothes that would go with my makeup ideas to complete the look I had in mind.  I asked Jackie from Pieces of Him & Her to Style the shoot, and she got the clothing bang on! The clothes completed my vision and I could not have asked for better pieces! She may have did too good of a job however, as I could not part with all the clothing and ended up purchasing some of the pieces for my own wardrobe.  Their fall/winter line-up is amazing I must say, and the prices are very affordable for the quality of clothing you purchase.  I highly suggest that everyone takes a drive to St. Mary’s and check out her store, I know my models all are!  I choose to work with Margie from fresh images photography yet again, as she does such a fabulous job.  I always choose not to use "models" in my shoots as I want real women to go through this experience, and I love seeing their faces when they see the pictures after.   My models usually are nervous going into the shoots, but Margie does a great job at making them feel comfortable and bringing out their true beauty. She also shows them how to turn their head or change their posture so that they take the most flattering pictures.  My models Jessica, Dawn-Marie and Cassidy really got into character, and we had many laughs getting these great shoots!!! My favorite picture was formed during one of our biggest laugh sessions, and I think it is truly amazing when these moments are captured on film as we will always remember what was said a that exact moment.  When I told Margie about my visions for this shoot she was ecstatic, she has always dreamed of shooting on a farm, and she asked if we could incorporate balloons, as she has also wanted to shoot with them for a long time.  Of course I said yes, and the balloons were absolutely amazing in the pictures.  Of course a photo shoot with Margie wouldn't be the same if she didn't show off her acrobatic abilities, and she decided to do the splits through the mud, all the while saving her equipment ;)  I also had an acrobatic moment, which unfortunately my parents dog Louie, took advantage of.  Along with all our behind the scenes bloopers we even had a nice visit from the OPP thinking that that abandoned vehicles and furniture all over the back road of the farm were suspicious.  I think he was a little shocked that instead he found a photo-shoot in progress and just gave us a head shake and a smile and was on his way.  Although, these photo shoots are great fun, they are very time consuming so I thank the models for being so patient through it all.  I also love that none of the models even new each other and we spent the day like we were all lifelong friends. Until the pictures get released, here are some behind the scene pictures to make the suspense even worse! Enjoy and thanks again to all that participated!
